Dale catches another stunner!
Dale Walters carried on his recent success at Gingerbread Lake whilst fishing overnight during the recent spell of cold weather. His reward was a stunning 35lb 7oz mirror carp which was also a new personal best for him. By the end of the cold spell, the carp seemed to have stopped feeding but a few fish have been observed leaping out after the return of milder weather. However, there has been plenty of action from small pike and perch as more predator anglers begin to target the lake.
Anglers have reported plenty of carp moving in the Links Pool around the reed and lily beds but floating leaves were making fishing difficult.
Kevin Webb opted for a day’s fishing on The Drift stretch of the River Ouse where he enjoyed some frantic action from perch. Kevin float-fished lobworms at a depth of 12ft and the perch greedily scoffed worm after worm. The only disappointing aspect was that none of the fish were particularly large.
Some of the younger club members have been catching some nice carp from New Road Lake during the half-term break with common carp to over 19lbs and mirrors to 17lb reported.
There was still plenty of action from carp, bream, roach and pike at McGregor Lake with swims on the railway bank proving to be the most productive. The best carp reported was a 14 pounder and Barry Fox’s grandson, Lewis Vereeque, landed a 14lb 4oz pike. Lewis caught his fish on a smelt mounted on a single hook.
