Steve sets a new record for the Links Pool

The largest carp ever recorded from the Links Pool has been caught by Steve Alsford, a mirror carp weighing 34lb 4oz. The fish was part of a five fish haul that included mirrors of 26lbs and 8lb 3oz and a 20lb 4oz common carp. Steve hooked seven fish altogether during his session.

Lakes slow to respond to warmer weather

Anglers might have expected some improved sport following the much-welcomed milder conditions but the water temperatures are still very low and will probably take, at least, another week to recover before fish start feeding more avidly.

Chub, chub and more chub!

Alan Wilkie returned to a little-fished stretch of the River Ivel but struggled to get any bites on lobworms. However, Alan had been feeding his swim with a few mini-boilies so decided to give them a try instead. Almost immediately, he had a good bite using a side-hooked boily and this turned out to be a 5lb 7oz chub. He fished on to take another chub of 4lbs using the same tactic. Later in the week, Alan fished an after dark session on the River Ouse at Wyboston and went on to catch a 5lb 2oz chub.
