Matt is over the moon!

Mistral Baits’ manager Matt Parry time off work for a session at Gingerbread Lake and opted for the little-fished ‘Fridge’ swim in the factory bay. An overnight session produced a tench, bream and a mid-double carp all caught on Mistral LiveR boilies. Matt returned two days later and had a catch that really put the icing on the cake for his holiday as he went on to catch a tench around 6lbs, three more bream to double-figures and the magnificent and elusive mirror carp called ‘Moon scale’ at 38lb 8oz. Once again it was his company’s LiveR boilies that did the business for Matt. Luckily, bailiff Derek Munro was on hand to help photograph and weigh the monster. Willy Woodfield returned to the lake after trying pastures new and promptly got down to business by catching a 26lb 4oz common carp fishing from ‘The Jetty’ swim in the bridge bay. Willy said that the fish put up a terrific fight almost taking him around the point from where he was fishing. A member reported catching an 8lb tench using free-lined bread flake to tempt the specimen whilst another member wheedled out a 22lb carp on a floating dog biscuit from the bridge corner. Paul ‘Magic hat’ Webb caught three tench to over 6lbs on float-fished lobworms after boiling in some mashed up tuna-flavoured pellets. A member fishing in the channel was catching good-sized rudd at the rate of almost one a cast throughout the day revealing yet another untapped potential for this lake.

John Murphy broke his p.b. from New Road Lake when he caught two mirror carp over 20lbs during a daytime session. John’s fish weighed 29lb 5oz and 22lb 3oz and he was unlucky to lose another two good fish that managed to get off by ploughing into the marginal weed beds. John was using Carp Company’s Icelandic Red boilies as bait which have served him well for this season. Teenager Thomas Pashley has enjoyed some fantastic sport at this venue fishing alongside his father and experienced carp angler, Carl. The duos latest visit was an overnight session in which the pair caught three double-figured carp each with Thomas breaking his p.b. with a huge 29lb specimen. Paul Saunders also caught a 16lb mirror and Anthony Pogmore landed a herd-fighting 13lb 12oz mirror too using Ngage boilies. Terry Horne was fishing for the lake’s big eels when his dead bait was picked by a superbly-conditioned 20lb pike just after the angler had landed a 9lb bream. Terry was not disappointed!
