Last of the summer wine!

Clint Walters cast to a patch of light silt amongst a patch of weed at Gingerbread Lake from where he caught a 25lb 10oz mirror. Many of the lake’s carp have now left the sanctuary of the weed beds as they go on the search for food at the start of their pre-winter feeding spree.

Michael Richards was fishing at New Road Lake when his alarm and he was soon battling with a heavy fish that quickly weeded itself. Michael managed to free it from the weed and eventually landed the fish which turned out to be a 17lb fully-scaled mirror carp. Anthony Pogmore kept observing some leaping fish close to his swim and decided to cast his bait in their general direction. Within a short time he had a take and was soon landing a 13lb 8oz mirror carp after a short fight.

Kevin Webb fished at McGregor Lake and experienced run after run landing 9 fish in total. His catch included 5 single-figured mirror carp and 4 bream between 4 and 5lbs. Kevin said that all the fish were in super condition and the carp scrapped like doubles. Alan Wilkie joined him later in the day and caught a 9lb 4oz fully-scaled mirror carp before dark. Gary Page landed a 20lb 1oz pike using a lamprey as bait and caught a 9 pounder on a herring too. Gary also reported catching two tench to 6lb 5oz and no fewer than 8 carp to 10lbs.Winston Pogmore again favoured the shallow end of the lake which seems to hold more than its fair share of double-figured carp. In a short spell he went on to catch a 10lb mirror and a bonus 5lb 4oz tench, his first from the lake this year.
