More specimens caught at Priory Farm

In recent years, the Priory Farm stretch of the River Ouse, known locally as ‘Slow Harrold’, has been gaining a reputation for producing some outstanding catches with bream to over 11lbs and tench over 7lbs too. Allan Lawrence has targeted this area of the river this season where he has added to this list by catching a huge 14lb 7oz barbel plus carp to 22lbs in recent weeks. However, before everyone starts stampeding towards the river, Allan advises that he has had to fish long and hard for his fish.

Jared Cooper fished the margins at Gingerbread Lake after spotting several big carp milling around the area. His tactics worked perfectly as he went on to catch carp of 33lbs and 25lbs following on from a 31lb fish caught on his previous visit.

The margins have proved to be the hotspots at New Road Lake too where John Murphy fished overnight to take a 19lb 6oz common carp and mirrors of 21lb 4oz and 13lbs. He returned later in the week to catch a 15lb 15oz mirror during a short day session. Anthony Pogmore had a single run that produced a hard fighting 16lb 8oz mirror carp during the day. He used ‘N-gage’ boilies over a bed of free offerings together with trout pellets to tempt the lone fish.
