BHAA Ltd held its first Open Day at McGregor Lake in Sandy and it turned out to be a great day with 30 youngsters taking part accompanied by some mums and dads. There were three qualified coaches on hand to help the youngsters as well as board members to give advice. Everyone who took part caught fish with roach and skimmers feeding well throughout the day. Some larger carp were caught too with Conor Young landing a whopper weighing 12lb 12oz and two more around the 10lb mark.
The Club were especially grateful for the sponsorship provided by Simon at Walker’s Pitch who helped to promote the event, Mick at Waterside Angling for the provision of various groundbaits, hook baits and seat boxes, Ouse Valley baits for supplying a generous quantity of maggots and James Hooker at the Environment Agency for providing all sorts of fishing tackle for the youngsters to use. A big ‘Thank You’ to all those who helped to make it a success including Neil Sampson, Martin Crouch, Rob Norris, Mark Snow, Dave Halleybone, George Horne, to George’s partner Laura for helping with the administration on the day and to club member Ray Albone who turned up at short notice..
Hot and cold drinks were provided by the Club throughout the day and there was a good assortment of biscuits to nibble on. The sun shone, the fish fed as did the kids and all in all it was a memorable day.
