Mild conditions over the previous week saw big carp at Gingerbread Lake feeding in earnest. The ‘floater king’ capped his season with a three fish haul that included ‘Cluster’ weighing 42lbs and two more carp over 30lbs. Kevin Webb has enjoyed a late season purple patch firstly by catching three good-sized tench. He returned to the lake at the weekend to find most of the popular swims occupied but managed to find one available at the far end of the lake. Almost immediately Kevin observed fish bubbling in his swim and the odd fish rolling on the surface. It was not long before he had a run on his Sticky Baits pop-up boilie which turned out to be a 32lb mirror carp equaling his previous best caught some years ago. Kevin Gormley only joined the Association in September but has already landed nine carp over 20lbs. His latest capture was a scale perfect 32lb common carp. Earlier in his session, Kevin had a couple of bites that did not materialize into runs so on the third occasion it happened he decided to strike resulting in the big common. Anthony Pogmore landed a 29lb 8oz mirror using a small white pop-up in conjunction with a fishmeal boilie.
Anglers fishing at Swan Lake have been catching some big carp too with Alex Malcolm catching the biggest, a superbly-conditioned 29lb 10oz mirror carp. Peter Housden has been enjoying some success too catching a number of the lake’s carp including one of the big commons (weight unknown). Mark Bailey fished a session with his friend Martin Girdwood and caught two 20s weighing 23lbs and 27lbs.
