BHAA Ltd has some exciting forthcoming events that should be of interest to novice anglers and to those wanting to improve their skills. The Association is going to repeat its highly popular Open Day at McGregor Lake, Sandy on the 18th August when experienced and professional coaches will be on hand to help participants. Hot and cold drinks and snacks will be available too and all tackle will be provided. A second Open Day is planned for later in the year on 20th October when the venue will again be McGregor Lake. Participation will be free of charge.

Budding carp anglers are invited to attend the Carp School which will be held at McGregor Lake on the 22nd September. Places will be limited to 20 participants so, if you are interested, please book in advance by contacting Neil Sampson on 01234 340062 or by e-mailing him at ‘’.

A new member, John Harvey, fished at Gingerbread Lake fully expecting to blank but instead got off to an absolute flyer. John caught two stunning 20lb plus mirror carp and a personal best tench weighing an impressive 8lb 3oz. Needless to say, he has now fallen in love with the water.

Sport at Swan Lake and McGregor Lake has been affected by the bright conditions with fish feeding best in the early mornings, evenings and at night. Only a few carp have been caught but silver fish have continued to feed well at McGregor Lake.

Grace Lake is now open thanks to a big effort by the working party and the tracks around Swan and McGregor Lakes have been greatly improved too. A big ‘Thank You’ is due to all who participated and willingly gave of their time and effort. The track at Gingerbread is the working party’s next big task.

Lost Property. Can you help? A member Barry Richardson lost a camera at Gingerbread Lake recently. It is a compact red Samsung. If you have found it, Barry would appreciate a call on 01767 691361 or 07894 399472.
