London bus syndrome strikes again

Michael Cooney was fishing in the factory bay at Gingerbread Lake when he had a run which turned out to be a lovely 20lb 12oz common carp. He was about to put it on to his unhooking mat when one of his other rods was away with another run. Michael eventually landed the fish which turned out to be another big common, this time a 22lb 12oz specimen, with both fish in his landing net at the same time. On a previous visit, Michael caught a 26lb 8oz mirror together with a number of bream. Pete Housden is a newly-appointed bailiff who will be at the venue throughout the winter months in addition to the other bailiffs.

Chris feeds the birds to get to big carp!

Floater king Chris Tysoe was confronted with an array of birdlife that barred his way to getting amongst the carp at Gingerbread Lake. He ended up patiently feeding five swans, numerous mallards and gulls with around 6 kilos of floaters before he had an opportunity to cast out his own floating bait. However, his perseverence was rewarded when a big carp took his bait on his first cast. The fish turned out to be a 32lb 8oz heavily scaled mirror carp. Chris Tyrell fished overnight but had to wait until the next morning before getting a run on his ledgered boilie. The wait was more than worthwhile though as Chris went on to catch a 28lb 12oz common carp. Barry Richardson’s first season at the lake has seen him catch several big tench and bream but the lake’s carp had so far eluded him. The wait was over when his margin fished boilie was picked up by a whopping 34lb mirror carp. Barry said the fish was a personal best for him. There was plenty of sport to be had float-fishing with anglers catching some nice rudd to just under 1lb on sweetcorn whilst roach were feeding aggressively on bread flake.

Lee lands another beauty!

Mick Day spent a day fishing in ‘the Fridge’ swim and he confirmed just how cold it was. However, a single take on popped-up piece of artificial corn produced a 6lb 3oz bream for him, his best ever bream as it happens.

Kevin continues his hot streak as catches dramatically improve

Carp fishing at Gingerbread Lake has dramatically improved with the likelihood that they are starting their autumnal feeding binge. Bailiff Kevin Gormley exploited a small clear patch he found taking seven carp from the spot, the best weighing 36lbs. Kevin said the big fish was the dark mirror that topped 40lbs earlier in the year but was now spawned out. He used Denham Baits ‘Inception’ boilies as bait. Ian Fisher caught mirrors weighing 21lbs and 15lbs on a recent visit and commented that both fish were in super condition.

Ian lands a big bream at Gingerbread

Another lake record has been broken at Gingerbread Lake when carp angler Ian Warner caught a huge 15lb 8oz bream. There are plenty of bream around the 9-10lb mark in the lake but Ian’s fish was a relative monster setting a new lake record for the water. Kevin Gormley fished an overnight session at the lake and caught no fewer than nine fish including four tench to over 8lbs and five carp, the best weighing 27lbs.
