Big pike is feeling a little blue!

Gary Page visited the Sandy Lakes complex for a bit of pike fishing on yet another very cold day. He float-fished a bluey deadbait which was eventually taken by a super conditioned 25lb 7oz pike. Robert Livock carp fished at McGregor Lake catching two almost identical mirror carp each weighing around 9lbs. Robert was using small boilies as bait ledgered towards one of the islands. Mick Baldwin was fishing a nearby swim ledgering maggots and caught a number of bream throughout the day.

Bailiff Steve Bull caught two stockie carp fishing at BHAA’s Gingerbread Lake but little feeding activity was reported by other anglers fishing the lake during the week.

Alan Lawrence targeted a little fished BHAA stretch of the River Ouse using a homemade paste wrapped around a 10mm cork ball and a light link ledger setup. Alan’s intended target were chub but it was three hours into his session before his quiver tip registered a bite. Alan struck and at first he thought he had hooked into a big chub but was pleasantly surprised when he slipped his net under a pristine 8lb 3oz bream.

Ollie Jenkinson has concentrated on a stretch of the River Ivel near Biggleswade trotting maggots. He caught a fin perfect 3lb perch and returned to the river a couple of days later to catch another 3lb perch and a 4lb 6oz chub.
