Conor Yonug and Kyle Verlander fished overnight at McGregor Lake where they caught no fewer than 12 carp between them with the best fish weighing around 15lbs. On three occasions, they had simultaneous takes ending up playing two fish at the same time.
A new member, James Moule, fished overnight at Swan Lake where he caught a nicely conditioned 19lb 2oz mirror carp. Tom Stimpson reported catching no fewer than 9 carp from the same venue over a three night spell and Mark Bailey caught a carp too during the night.
Winston Pogmore decided to try a different seafood as bait this week at Gingerbread Lake opting for cockles. He float-fished them in the margins and went on to catch a smallish eel followed by a cracking 7lb tench.
The hot weather has seen an unprecedented amount of fish activity at Gingerbread Lake with carp showing in the weed beds and clouds of feeder bubbles around the margins. Dave Holland has been making up for lost time in pursuit of the lake’s tench and this week he added two more good-sized specimens to his tally weighing 5lb 13oz and 5lb 15oz despite losing another two fish whilst fishing in the factory bay. Later in the week, he was encouraged by Winston Pogmore to try float-fished prawns and, almost immediately, caught one of the lake’s big bream weighing around 9-10lbs.
