Surface baits do the business!

Anglers fishing at Gingerbread Lake have witnessed a lot of activity from carp milling about on the surface. Early in the week, Chris Tysoe was the first to take carp using his favourite floating dog biscuits fishing them at the back of a strong breeze. Ian Fisher followed catching a super looking 28lb mirror, a scaly mirror weighing 24lb and a big 28lb 8oz common carp plus a 15lb mirror and a 17lb common. Ian said that his fish took a liking to Denham Bait Innovations’ boilies fished on the surface. Later in the week, Kevin Barrable had a fantastic session surface fishing with dog biscuits taking no fewer than five 20lb plus carp weighing up to 26lbs despite losing another big fish and what’s more he was only half way through his visit. Yanis Spalis reported catching another big common carp weighing 27lbs but was unlucky to hook and then lose one of the lake’s really big mirrors. Apart from carp, there were signs of fish bubbling away in many swims but anglers were finding it difficult to get them to pick up their baits.

A new member, James Moule, fished overnight at Swan Lake where he caught a nicely conditioned 19lb 2oz mirror carp. Tom Stimpson reported catching no fewer than 9 carp from the same venue over a three night spell and Mark Bailey caught a carp too during the night.

Ray Wyka has continued catching carp regularly from McGregor Lake with his best fish weighing 17lbs. Also, anglers fishing at Grace Lake have reported catching some nice bags of tench from this little fished venue.
