Cluster puts in an appearance

During the week, the odd carp was still falling to floaters at Gingerbread Lake but it was reported that the mirror carp named ‘Cluster’ was caught down in weight at 39lb 6oz. Nick ‘the Greek’ Page caught a couple of carp fishing in the factory bay too. Early in the week, there were clouds of feeder bubbles showing in most parts of the lake but it was by no means certain what fish were causing them. Winston Pogmore float-fished with cockles but had only managed to catch a small bream but, as he decided to pack up, his float dipped under and he ended up catching a nice 5lb 14oz tench. Another member pole-fished with sweet corn as bait catching plenty of roach and rudd throughout the day. Richard Holden has joined our bailiffing team and will be carrying out spot checks around the lake from time to time.

George Horne landed a cracking 26lb mirror carp when he fished at Swan Lake recently and then followed it up with a seven fish haul of carp fishing overnight at McGregor Lake. Winston Pogmore caught an 11lb mirror carp from McGregor Lake too when he fished near the shallow end of the lake. The fish was his only run on a sunny day not conducive to fishing. Members will be pleased to learn that a new padlock has been installed on the gate to replace the reportedly troublesome one.

A few big carp have been spotted in the Links Pool which may be well worth targeting now the duck weed problem seems to be receding.
