Lone carp brightens up the day

Several anglers took advantage of one of the few dry days to go fishing at Sandy’s McGregor Lake. Robert Livock was one of those who returned for another day following his catches in the previous two weeks. Although there were plenty of small fish topping in the early morning, there were no signs of any carp moving as his lack of bites confirmed. However, a run came out of the blue and the fish was soon netted. It turned out to be a pristine 12lb 8oz linear mirror in full winter colours. He fished on for the rest of the day but no more bites were forthcoming. Another of the lake’s regulars was swim feeding with maggots in a nearby swim from which he caught a steady stream of silver fish throughout the day. In contrast, the heavily fished swims on the track side produced little in the way of action for the anglers fishing them.

It has been decided that the Association will no longer use Bleak Hall Sports as an outlet for the sale of membership books as demand there has remained low for several years. The nearest local outlet to BHS is Countrysports in Priory Marina, Bedford.
