Brighter weather brings welcome relief

The club’s stretches of the River Ouse were all within their banks but the water remained fairly coloured and fast flowing. The River Ivel offers the best bet for river fishing in the coming week as levels return to normal.

Floods bring a temporary halt to fishing

The almost continual deluges we keep experiencing have finally brought fishing to an end at both the Sandy Lakes and Eaton Socon complexes. At Sandy, Swan and McGregor Lakes had merged whilst at Gingerbread Lake the banks were more than a foot underwater making fishing impossible. The rivers Ivel and Ouse were both in spate too and over their banks and into the surrounding fields.

Richard Young was desperate to get some fishing time in so he opted for a damp overnight session at Sandy’s McGregor Lake where carp have been caught throughout the winter months. He saw little in the way of action during the night but, at around 5am, his luck was to change when his bite alarm sounded a run.
