April showers bring forth a deluge of fish

Mike Broom fished at another of BHAA’s carp venues, Swan Lake, where during the daytime he caught a 17lb 2oz common, 19lb 2oz mirror and 17lb 4oz mirror. Meanwhile, father and son duo Simon and Tom Tilsbury fished at nearby McGregor Lake where Simon banked a 16lb mirror and Tom caught two more mirrors weighing 11lbs and 15lbs.

Daytime catches are on the increase

Stuart Blacow fished overnight at McGregor Lake but had to wait until the next morning for some carp action. In two hours in the morning, Stuart caught two mirror carp weighing 15lbs and 17lbs.

Catches improve as water temperatures rise

Membership books for the coming season are being printed at the moment but are likely to be in demand. The first stocks of them should be in sales outlets by the end of April. The coming season will be the last year that the ‘Zone’ locks will be in use and all locks and keys will be changed for 2015-16.

Tench starting to move

There have been plenty of fish showing at Gingerbread Lake as the water temperature continues to rise with a number of good-sized carp caught and several of the recently stocked ones. Most of the smaller stock fish have been caught from the factory bay where they were introduced. John Murphy landed a cracking early season tench weighing 8lb 6oz, a new personal best for the angler. On his next visit, he caught a 9lb plus pike which took a liking to his particle bait.
