Walker’s Pitch is closing

The club received the sad news that one of its main outlets for the purchase of membership books, Walker’s Pitch, is to close within the next few weeks. However, it will remain open for the time being
for the sale of bait and there are some big discounts to be had on any remaining stock. Members wishing to renew their membership or anglers wanting to join can do so through one of the other outlets listed on the website. Alternatively, postal applications can be made to the membership secretary. In the longer term it is hoped to find a new outlet within the Biggleswade and Sandy area.

The unsettled weather over the past week has resulted in an increase in fish caught from all of BHAA’s still waters. At Gingerbread Lake, James Muncaster caught his first carp of the year which turned out to be the mirror known as ‘The Lookalike’ tipping his scales at over 41lbs. Kevin Barrable reported catching his biggest carp from the lake, a pristine 32lb mirror and followed this catch up with a three fish haul of carp to low doubles. Mike Ralston braved heavy rain to catch a 7lb 12oz tench whilst fishing in the factory bay.

Mike Broom’s latest trip to Swan Lake at Sandy brought him another haul of fish. During the night he netted three more carp, all mirrors weighing 14lb 02oz, 15lb 4oz and 21lb 08oz before banking a double-figured bream at first light.

Robert Livock fished at McGregor Lake on two windy days. On day one, he caught an 11lb 8oz mirror and then another larger fish weighing 14lb 12oz despite losing another good fish on the way to the net. On his next visit, the carp were feeding avidly and he amassed a 7 fish haul of carp up to 13lb 8oz with the majority of the other fish being doubles. Also, he caught a 5lb 8oz tench, a fish that he suspects he caught the previous week. Other anglers were catching carp too including some of the smaller ones only recently stocked into the lake and others to double figures.
