Hard frosts fail to dampen sport

Eoghann Thompson fished overnight at Gingerbread Lake using a ‘Dragon’ pre-tied carp hair baited with a Denham Baits’ boilie fished over a bed of ground bait. He went on to catch a 13lb 14oz bream, one of the biggest reported from the lake this season, and a 5lb mirror carp too. Pike have been feeding well with many fish caught so far by members up to around 17lbs.

A few carp were showing during the daytime at McGregor Lake although runs were hard to come by. Richard Bartlett fished only a short three hour session but it was enough for him to catch a 12lb 12oz mirror carp. Richard used fake maize fished on a chod rig to catch the fish.

A member fishing at Swan Lake reported catching quality roach at almost a fish cast on single maggot but later in the day pike had moved in and were attacking fish he had hooked. A quick change to pike baits enabled him to catch two of the culprits in the 8-10lb range.
