A trio of big chub caught

With the lakes still pertly covered in ice, Robert Livock decided to try his luck fishing for chub on the River Ivel near Sandy. A sunny but cold day was, perhaps, not the best of conditions for chub fishing but, at least, there was always the chance of a fish. He fished throughout the day using an old reliable favourite, bread flake as bait and it did not let him down. During the day, he caught three nice chub weighing 4lb 2oz, 5lbs and 5lb 5oz, a new personal best.

Ian Edgar could only fish at Gingerbread Lake four times during 2014 owing to work commitments and the distance from his Leicestershire home but he made the most of his visits. He caught four carp including a 25lb 12oz common and a pristine linear mirror of 33lb 3oz.
