River catch reports brighten up a difficult week

Daryl Close fished for most of the winter months on the River Ivel and was rewarded by catching two nice barbel weighing 7lb 9oz and 8lb 4oz. Also, Gary Page deserted the lakes to fish on the Ivel for perch. Gary was successful in catching some cracking perch all in super condition with his best fish weighing an impressive 3lb 9oz.

BHAA had it’s AGM last Thursday at Biggleswade RUFC’s clubhouse when members were kept informed as to how the club was faring financially and plans that were in action to further improve the fisheries. Further stockings of fish were in train and improvements in access to the Sandy Lakes fishery. To this end, the fishery will be closed on the 11th and 12th of April to allow the entrance road to be resurfaced and a hard track to be laid to allow access to the far side of McGregor Lake throughout the year. Further works are planned in the coming months too.

A new outlet has been arranged for the sale of membership books for the coming season namely JR Goldthorpe & Son’s shop which is located in the High Street in Biggleswade. The premises has the advantage of customer parking facilities at the rear of the shop.
