Big fish continue to feed at both Sandy and Gingerbread Lakes

Plenty of big carp were landed by anglers fishing at Gingerbread Lake over the past week or so. Mark Collins reportedly had qa six fish haul that included the mirror carp known as ‘the Lookalike’ weighing about 38lbs. Craig Jones put his faith in locally made boilies, MAD Tackles’s Wicked Whites, and these were to prove successful catching him a pristine 33lb 10oz common carp. Membership Secretary Anthony Pogmore fished into the teeth of a cool breeze using a wafter boilie fished over a scattering of Denham Baits’s ‘The Element’ boilies. A single run around noon was sufficient for him to catch a 32lb mirror carp although bites from small bream continued to pester him throughout his stay. John Murphy caught both bream and tench during the week with fish around the 5-7lb mark although his intended target was carp. Another frustrated angler was Dave Holland who reckons he could have bagged up on roach, rudd and skimmer bream but could not tempt any tench into feeding.

Luke Garner had a great session fishing at Swan Lake catching carp weighing 26lbs, 23lbs and 16lbs. Del Orchard fished at Swan Lake too and, in only a 3 hour session, managed to catch a 24lb common. Callum Sharp caught another big carp, this time a 29lb 10oz mirror.

Robert Livock found in hard going in high pressure conditions but still managed to catch two carp, mirrors of 14lb 8oz and 9lbs.

A big ‘thank you’ is due to the work party at Sandy who managed to eradicate the potholes on the entrance road, construct a permanent track to the far side of McGregor Lake, improve parking areas on Swan Lake and erect a club notice board. Hopefully, this work should prevent members’ cars getting stuck when the ground is soft. Incidentally, members may consider it useful to invest in a pair of mud grips which can be purchased for under £10 and will help them to extricate their vehicles if stuck
