Spawning does little to effect sport

Richard Bartlett’s latest trip to McGregor Lake yielded two fish for him, an 11lb 14oz mirror and a 12lb common carp. John Murphy’s grandson, Jonnie caught a 10lb 8oz mirror carp on a day when little was feeding. However, there has been a steady stream of carp being caught throughout the week from all parts of this lake. Members are reminded that the lake will be reserved for an Over 60s match on Wednesday, the 3rd of June.

Quality roach being caught

Catch of the week from Gingerbread Lake was a super looking 36lb mirror which fell to Yannis Spallis whose previous fish was an 11lb tench. A few other carp were either caught or lost but generally the fish seemed reluctant to feed. Kevin Barrable got off to a good start on his return to the lake catching a couple of tench in quick succession on boilies .

If you can find them, you can catch them!

Swan Lake at Sandy has been fishing it’s head off for a number of weeks with multiple catches being regularly reported. Bailiff Dave Hallybone hit the jackpot this week by catching no fewer than 8 big carp including two over 29lbs and a 25lb 4oz fully-scaled mirror too. Evan John banked two 19s during an overnight stay. Barry Giles caught the heaviest reported carp, a beautifully conditioned mirror weighing 35lb 2oz.

Carp Galore and monster tench

Robert Livock continues to catch regularly at McGregor Lake where he landed a 14lb 8oz mirror and a 9lb 12oz common during a day session. He returned later in the week to catch three more carp, mirrors weighing 13lb, 12lb and 10lb 8oz.

Multiple catches abound

Congratulations to Callum Sharp who won a prize from Anglers Mail for a photo recently submitted of one of his carp. This follows John Cartwright’s £100 prize for his 7lb 15oz chub caught from the river Ouse at Lavendon.
