Quality roach being caught

Anglers fishing at Gingerbread Lake have been enjoying some great sport from good-sized roach up to the 1lb mark with fish feeding throughout the day. Dave Holland found roach were taking his float-fished sweetcorn intended for tench so he changed to 12ml pellets but it still did not stop roach taking them too. It was a similar situation at McGregor Lake too where good-sized roach were being caught by anglers whilst float-fishing.

Robert Livock fished the early part of the week at McGregor Lake in heavy rain but found that carp were back to daytime feeding. During the week, he banked 7 carp, both commons and mirrors, to 13lbs and caught a couple of good-sized tench weighing 5lbs and 7lb 14oz, a personal best. Several Other anglers fishing the lake were catching carp from different parts of the lake during the day. Peter Biernis had a surprise capture in the form of a 16lb pike that took a pellet he was using as bait.

Catch of the week from Gingerbread Lake was a super looking 36lb mirror which fell to Yannis Spallis whose previous fish was an 11lb tench. A few other carp were either caught or lost but generally the fish seemed reluctant to feed. Kevin Barrable got off to a good start on his return to the lake catching a couple of tench in quick succession on boilies.

Members are reminded that there will be an Over 60s club match fished at McGregor Lake on Wednesday, the 3rd June when the lake will be reserved for the duration of the match. Other lakes on the complex will remain open for members to fish.
