Onset of autumn sees carp start feeding

Barry Gyles found all swims at Swan Lake occupied so decided to fish on McGregor Lake instead. It turned out to be a wise move as he went on to land six carp over the weekend weighing 18lb 7oz, 15lb 11oz, 13lb 14oz, 13lb 9oz, 11lb 9oz and 9lb 3oz. A correction to last week’s report in that Alan Gentle’s fish weighed 19lb 6oz, not 18lb 6oz as reported. Fish seem to be most active in the late afternoons and after dark as the Over 60s match confirmed with only two anglers getting into double figures although some decent sized bream were caught.

Another nice perch falls to a lure

Please note that the Over 60s club will be fishing a match at McGregor Lake on Wednesday, 29th of September. Other lakes on the Sandy complex will remain open to members to fish on this day.

Cooler conditions do not affect sport

Paul Swift’s carp caught from Swan Lake the previous week was a 28lb 6oz common and he has now provided a photo of the fish. Paul said his fish fell to a ‘Mad Baits’ Addiction’ boilie.

Autumn gold!

Many anglers were reporting that the recent weather conditions were still playing havoc with sport resulting in little or nothing in the way of bites.
