Onset of autumn sees carp start feeding

Calum Sharp fished his first ever session at Gingerbread Lake, a few hours in the afternoon, but he got off to a flyer by banking a 31lb mirror carp plus another smaller one. Lake regular Norman Brinn was another angler to enjoy success when he caught the mirror carp known as Moonscale weighing 41lb 8oz. Roy Keeble fished with a guest at the lake and caught a 22lb 15oz mirror despite losing two other carp.

Barry Gyles found all swims at Swan Lake occupied so decided to fish on McGregor Lake instead. It turned out to be a wise move as he went on to land six carp over the weekend weighing 18lb 7oz, 15lb 11oz, 13lb 14oz, 13lb 9oz, 11lb 9oz and 9lb 3oz. A correction to last week’s report in that Alan Gentle’s fish weighed 19lb 6oz, not 18lb 6oz as reported. Fish seem to be most active in the late afternoons and after dark as the Over 60s match confirmed with only two anglers getting into double figures although some decent sized bream were caught.
