Later season tench caught

Craig Brooks has been fishing at Gingerbread Lake where he has landed two cracking fish, a scale-perfect 28lb common carp and a post-spawned 8lb tench. Kevin Barrable found his favourite swim on the lake occupied so ended up fishing another swim albeit in the same area of the lake. In successive afternoons, he caught two carp weighing 22lbs and 30lbs to make his overnight stay worthwhile. A member reported spotting a very large catfish swimming in the lake. If anyone else has any knowledge of this alien fish, please can they let the membership secretary know.

Several members have confirmed that most of the action from carp at McGregor Lake was being experienced in the evenings and after dark. Alan Wilkie fished the lake on a couple of occasions staying on until nightfall and it has enabled him to catch two good-sized carp from the lake, a 15lb 11oz mirror and another weighing 18lb 13oz. He added that his bigger fish fell to a snowman rig using 10lb b.s. line and ‘Avon’ rods giving him a 20 minute scrap.

It is getting to that time of the year when many anglers turn their attention to pike fishing.
