Specimen chub caqught from the Ivel

Martin Barnatt started off the day fishing on the River Ouse at Tempsford where he caught plenty of chub. The only trouble was the best weighed only 3/4lb. He decided to move to a stretch of the River Ivel which proved to be a wise decision as he went on to catch nine chub. His catch included two 4s and specimens weighing 5lb3oz, 5lb 9oz and a massive 6lb 12oz. Martin used waggler fished maggots to temp his fish.

George Horne added to his big eel catch (reported last week) by catching a 13lb mirror carp and a 17lb common carp. Moonscale was reported to have put in yet another appearance when it was caught by a member fishing on the road side. The big mirror weighed around 42lbs and was backed up by another fish weighing 26lbs. Kevin Barrable Caught an 18lb mirror during the week but had earlier caught the fish known as the Long Common weighing 31lbs.

Gary Thompson provided a photo of a 20lb 8oz mirror he caught fishing at Swan Lake to add to the 29lb 2oz common carp he caught from the venue during the same session.

Congratulations to Alan Gentle who won our photo competition for the month of September with his McGregor Lake mirror.

Members are asked to note that the last Over 60s will be held at McGregor Lake on Wednesday, the 28th of October. Swan and Grace Lakes will remain open to members wanting to fish whilst the match is ongoing.
