Grace Lake bream

Darren Lofthouse decided to try to catch bream from Grace Lake on the Sandy Lakes complex after reading that the species was present. He fished with a groundbait feeder which was shortly followed in by what looked to be a fairly large pike. However, later in the day he went on to catch a good-sized 7lb bream.

The stormy weather over the bank holiday weekend caused a flurry of activity at Gingerbread Lake with carp seen crashing out as they reacted to the fiery conditions. Several big carp were caught by anglers who braved the changeable weather. It seems that the worse the weather is the more chance one has of tempting the lake’s carp to feed. A number of big pike have been seen around the lake in the margins striking at small fish that have grown from last year’s fry.

Work on the otter fence around Swan Lake has been preceding at a pace and should be finished. Members are asked to ensure that the new gates installed in the fencing are kept closed at all times as otherwise our ‘furry friends’ may take advantage and gain entry to the lake.
