A just reward!

Members visiting Gingerbread Lake in the past week will notice a hive of activity as work proceeds on the construction of an otter fence around the fishery and further tree surgery continues to try to encourage the growth of marginal rushes and weeds. One of the contractors had a fish after their day’s work was done and caught no fewer than six carp in an evening. Tench are starting to show in increasing numbers despite the unsettled weather conditions and bream seem to be active in most swims around the lake. Anthony Pogmore caught a pristine tench around 7lbs and an 11lb mirror carp fishing on snowman rigs.

Swan Lake has been producing a steady stream of big carp for anglers fishing there. Mark Adams enjoyed a four fish haul with the best weighing over 27lbs.

Simon Lashmore reported catching several hard-fighting tench from Grace Lake fishing daytime sessions but has struggled to find any of the lake’s crucian carp. He has seen several large pike in the lake though which must have gained entry when the nearby Stratford Brook flooded into the lake. Anyone catching these pike is asked to remove them and put them into McGregor or Swan Lakes on the complex.

Please note that all gate locks are being changed on the evening of the 15th of June in time for the start of the new fishing season.
