Like peas in a pod!

Mick Usher has been making the most of his recent retirement by fishing all of BHAA’s lakes in turn. A recent day at Grace Lake produced four tench and three bream for him. Each of the tench weighed exactly 4lb 10oz whilst the bream all topped 6lbs.

Luke Hipgrave is the latest member to catch a big carp from McGregor Lake. He caught a super looking mirror weighing 22lbs where more and more 20s are being caught. A member fished luncheon meat in the margins and had a surprise catch in the form of a 2lb 8oz eel.

Norman Brinn fished at Gingerbread Lake during the recent heatwave and caught the mirror carp known as Moonscale weighing 41Lb 8oz and followed on with the capture of a 26lb 8oz common carp. Both fish were returned promptly to the water without photographing to avoid any risk of stressing the fish in the hot conditions. Alan Grimsey fished overnight in the factory bay where he caught a 24lb 12oz common and one of the recently stocked VS mirrors.

The final touches are being made to the otter fencing around Gingerbread Lake. Part of this work will entail cementing underneath the inner gate where a gap exists. It will be necessary to close the lake for a couple of days while this work is done but we will try to give members as much notice as possible when it will take place. Also, the gate appears to have dropped probably due to non- members clambering over it and this will be attended to shortly.
