Mad for it!

After his recent success with catching carp from McGregor Lake, David Grant decided to try for them on the adjacent Swan Lake which holds some larger specimens. He fished a 48-hour session baiting his swim liberally with Mad Bait’s boilies and on the first day he caught a big mirror carp weighing 28lb 1oz. After a move of swim, he went on to catch another 20, this time a 23lb 4oz mirror which picked up his bait at 3am. In only four visits to the lake, he has now chalked up nearly 40 carp of which 3 topped 20lbs already exceeding his first year’s target from the venue.

Please note that it will be necessary to close Gingerbread Lake to fishing from 10am on Tuesday the 30th of August until 5pm on Wednesday the 31st to enable cementing below the otter gates to take place. Once this work is completed our fish stocks should be fully protected from these predators.

A reminder that there will be a working party engaged at McGregor Lake removing a few of the artificial swims where they have been undercut by wave action making them hazardous.

A big thank you to board members Mick Usher and Kevin Webb who have worked on improving swims and access to Grace Lake enabling visiting anglers a greater choice of swims to fish. They will also be ensuring that the otter fencing around both Swan and Gingerbread Lakes is maintained to prevent access by these predators.

A few selfish anglers have been using areas close to swims and paths for toilet purposes at both Sandy and Eaton Socon. Anyone found to have behaved in such a manner risks losing his club membership.

The website news service will be having a break for a couple of weeks but any catch reports submitted will be included at a later date so please keep them coming in.
