Both rivers and lakes provide some good catches

Carp have been feeding well at McGregor Lake during daylight hours over the past couple of weeks. Alan Wilkie cast his baits tight to the far margins where he hooked four carp and landed two, a 10lb common and a 13lb+ mirror carp. Mick Ralston caught two carp, the best weighing over 14lbs fishing in the main part of the lake. Simon Ward selected a swim behind one of the islands from which he caught a 16lb carp.

Martin Barnatt continues to fish BHAA’s river stretches from which he has been enjoying considerable success. His latest catches include three pristine perch from the Riddy stretch of the River Ivel in Sandy and a 4lb 11oz chub from Tempsford.

Richard Fosker caught four carp during a 24-hour session at Gingerbread Lake including a 32lb 2oz mirror carp. His other fish were a 14lb 2oz common and mirrors weighing 16lb 8oz and 12lb 8oz. Mark Saunders continued his hot run of catches from the lake with a 25lb 2oz common carp.

This is the time of the year when predator anglers start to get their tackle ready for the colder months. The local PAC branch will be holding its first event of the season at the Wingfield Club, Ampthill on the 12th of October at 7.30pm.
