Changes agreed at AGM

During the past week there have been some good catches of carp from Swan Lake at Sandy. Mark Adams day fished into a cool breeze into an area of the lake where carp had been active throughout the night. He went on to bank two carp weighing 25lbs and 18lbs. Another member had similar success the previous weekend catching carp weighing 20lb 10oz and 25lbs. Kevin Webb fished at Gingerbread Lake where he caught 6 good-sized bream during a hectic morning session.

The Association’s AGM took place and at which a small increase in membership rates was announced primarily to help towards the cost of otter fencing to be installed around McGregor Lake. This will mean that three of the club’s four lakes will be protected from predation by these destructive creatures. Anthony Pogmore, the long-term membership secretary and treasurer, will be relinquishing many of his duties in the coming season. Already Dave Hallybone has taken over responsibility for the issuing of night fishing permits whilst Neil Sampson will become membership secretary and Fraser Hayden will take over the treasurer’s role. Anthony Pogmore will remain an active member of the board thereafter and will be on hand to assist the new appointees in their respective roles.

Several new bailiffs have been appointed to strengthen the team at Gingerbread Lake. Also, the board is considering delegating more responsibility to bailiffs to enforce club rules and discipline offenders. Details of the changes will be announced when agreed. In the meantime, members are urged to familiarise themselves will all the club’s rules as, in the future, ignorance will not be accepted as an excuse for rule breaking.
