Carp Galore

Carp have certainly been on the feed in recent weeks with good reports coming in from all our still waters.

Richard Fosker, targeted Swan Lake at the start of the month, catching three 20lb+ carp including mirrors of 20.07 and 20.15 and a 26.12 common. He then turned his attention to Gingerbread Lake and landed a further two 20lb+ mirror carp of 20.06 and 26.08.

It has also been reported that another un-named angler caught a 38lb Common Carp from Gingerbread, believed to be the largest ever Common caught from the lake.

McGregor Lake was the venue for Chris Tribe, who has been catching consistently from the venue over the past few weeks, topped by an immaculate Mirror Carp of 23lb. Richard Bartlett took advantage of the recent low pressure to target the carp in a short session. Using Sticky Baits Krill boilies fished hard on the bottom, he caught two carp, a Common which just made double figures and a mid-double mirror.

Fraser Hayden did a night session on McGregor Lake, catching five the best two both being over 16lb. Winston Pogmore did a short day session on the lake and had two quick bites, resulting in two carp, 10lb and 13lb respectively

Another angler who fished McGregor in the recent windy conditions was Paul Burton who caught three Mirror Carp upto 16.08. One of the carp he caught was a repeat capture from July when it weighed 11.04, this time weighing 12.04 showing that the fish are still putting on weight.

Anglers targeting other species on McGregor report catching bags of roach, with fish upto ½ lb, while others have had Bream upto 4lb.

Peter Scoats fishing Swan Lake caught a 24lb mirror, while other anglers carp of 30.02 and 33lb
