News Update: 19th May 2019

Current lake record holder at Swan, Lee Allum, caught several other fish during his session including a surprise 8lb 8oz tench. The previous weekend saw other anglers banking big carp from this venue too. Fraser Hayden has been frustrated in his quest for a double figured bream from Swan Lake as on his latest overnight session all he could manage were two bream weighing 4lbs and 6lbs. However, his trip was madel worthwhile as he managed to land a 23lb 15oz mirror carp on light tackle.

Dave Hallybone chalked up another milestone when he caught a common carp from McGregor Lake weighing 20lbs, the first reported common of this size to date. Meanwhile, another member banked a cracking 25lb 8oz mirror carp from the backwater behind the long island. Most anglers fishing McGregor Lake during the daytime were picking up both carp and bream. Robert Livock caught two 12lb 8oz carp and a small stockie and Karl Franklin also caught a couple of low doubles.

Tench are now being regularly caught at Gingerbread Lake where Dave Holland can be found targeting the species on float tackle. He was gutted to lose a large specimen when his hook pulled out of a hard-fighting fish. However, his disappointment was short-lived when his float disappeared on his next cast resulting in him catching a 9lb 7oz specimen, a new p.b. Andy Davis fished a couple of day sessions at the lake and on each visit he was able to catch a good-sized bream. He decided to weigh his second fish which tipped the scales at 10lb 4oz. Andy used feeder tactics with casters as bait.
