Another lake record has been broken at Swan Lake with the capture of the heaviest common carp, a 36lb specimen. The fish fell to Stephen Chessum and was easily recognisable by its distinctive colouring with the front half of the fish light green and the rear half dark green. It was Stephen’s third carp in excess of 30lbs from the lake so far this year. He had previously caught a 34lb 12oz mirror carp and two more commons weighing 18lbs and 15lbs. All his fish were caught close to the margins on single boilies fished with PVA bags of crushed boilies.
Fraser Hayden continued his quest for a double figured bream at Swan Lake but had to be content with catching an 8lb 14oz specimen. His fish fell to a micro pop-up fished over a bed of particles.
Meanwhile on McGregor Lake, Karl Franklin had to fish into the dark before getting a run but then had two fish on at the same time! He was able to land both fish, carp weighing 13lbs and 17lbs.
