News Update: 6th June 2019

A somewhat damp week with monsoon conditions on several days. Carp were active on Swan Lake and could be seen crashing out on the surface on most days. One member landed a good sized carp during the week but no details have been forthcoming.

Karl Franklin was back on McGregor Lake where he caught a 19lb 2oz mirror together with some smaller stock fish and a few bream. Robert Livock added a 16lb 8oz mirror carp to his growing number of doubles and had one of the small stock fish too.

Members wishing to fish Grace Lake will be pleased to learn that the vegetation has been strimmed making access to swims easier. This lake offers the prospect of some good tench fishing and the chance of catching an elusive crucian carp.

Details of the club’s new fishery will soon be on the website. It is a long stretch of the Upper Ouse noted for very large chub and perch. The Association feels very privileged to have been given the opportunity to fish there. The stretch will allow all season access to the river except in flood conditions. It is essential that anyone fishing there leaves no litter and respects the fishery so no taking the deer! Feedback on catches will be much appreciated as we hope to establish a long-term interest in the water.
