Catch of the week was made by a female club member, Sam Brown. Day fishing at Gingerbread Lake keen angler Sam caught one of the sought-after carp in the lake, the mirror carp known as Moonscale weighing 38lb 4oz.
At Swan Lake, bailiff Stephen Chessum notched up his 10th carp over 30lbs from the water, a heavily scaled mirror carp weighing 30lb 14oz. The fish made a determined bid for freedom when it raced towards some lily pads and Stephen had to wade out into waste deep water in order to gain control over it. Bait used was an essential cell pop-up presented on a ‘Ronnie’ rig. Earlier in the week, another club member caught a 23lb carp fishing into a moderate breeze. Night fishing was producing results as most fish shied away from the bright conditions with high pressure.
A new member started off fishing at McGregor Lake and spotted a small reeded area along one of the islands where he decided to place his baits. The member went on to catch two carp weighing 23lbs and 15lbs during the day. Lloyd Gadsby is now catching consistently at the lake and has added an 18lb mirror carp to his tally, a new personal best carp. Joran Saywell, another new member, was pleased to get off the mark with two fine mirror carp weighing 15lbs and 18lbs.
