News Update: 25th October 2020

The odd carp was still being caught at both Swan and McGregor Lakes, but catches have tailed off over the last few weeks. Stephen Chessum managed to catch an 18lb mirror carp from McGregor Lake this weekend when it picked up his ‘Bananarama’ flavoured pop-up fished on a ‘Ronnie’ rig. At Swan Lake, perch and roach were being caught in increasing numbers on float-fished maggots and worms although they tended to be on the small side.

Members keen on river fishing may wish to give the club’s newly acquired stretch of the River Ivel a try. The stretch, formerly controlled by the IPA, extends upstream from New Road bridge to Stratford Brook which runs between Grace and McGregor Lakes. In recent years, it has produced some big perch to over 3lbs, chub to well over 5lbs and other species.

Incidents have been reported of litter and discarded line being left in swims on the river side of McGregor Lake. Anyone found leaving litter risks expulsion from the club. Please take your litter home and dispose of it properly.
