News Update: 29th November 2020

The recent colder weather has had a dramatic effect on catches at both Gingerbread Lake and the Sandy Lakes complex. One angler who bucked the trend though was bailiff Trevor Richardson who caught seven carp during an overnight session including three weighing over 20lbs. His largest fish was a mirror carp weighing 28lbs which was only 12oz short of the unofficial lake record. The very next day the big mirror was caught again by Paul Rutter. It must like its photo being taken! Lloyd Gadsby continued his run of good-sized carp when he landed 19lb 5oz mirror during a daytime visit.

Member are advised that tree work will be taking place at Gingerbread Lake over the next two weeks. The lake will remain open, but it may be necessary to close off areas in the vicinity of where this work is being carried out.

At Swan Lake, a hairline crack has been reported in the large willow tree next to the ‘In Between’ swim on the railway bank so members are asked to exercise extreme caution by avoiding walking below it. The Board is endeavouring to arrange for the damaged branch to be removed.
