News Update: 16th May 2021

The mild changeable weather has resulted in an increased number of fish being caught from the club’s three main lakes. Both Gingerbread and Swan Lakes have produced carp to over 30lbs during the week whilst multiple catches of carp continue to feature at McGregor Lake. One of the most spectacular looking fish was a 21lb fully scaled mirror carp caught by Stephen Chessum from Swan Lake. Shortly afterwards, an 11lb pike took a fancy to his popped-up boilie. Also, one of the 30s caught at Gingerbread Lake was identified as being one of the fish stocked by VS Fisheries which has piled on the pounds.

Another pleasing aspect has been the welcome appearance of tench in catch reports at both Gingerbread and Swan Lakes. Fraser Hayden visited Gingerbread Lake to fish for tench where he opted for two approaches, mini boilies on one rod and a maggot feeder on the other. It was the latter that was to prove to be the successful method as he went on to land two nice tench, a 7lb 2oz female and a 5lb 5oz male. Earlier in the week, a member who regularly fishes Swan Lake for tench reported catching a 7lb 4oz specimen whilst Paul White caught another tench weighing 6lbs later in the week.

Membership books were made available in outlets but were snapped within hours with one shop selling out within 15 minutes. Anyone unable to obtain a book is advised to register his interest with the club’s membership secretary.

A stainless steel flask was found at Swan Lake during the week. If you think you may have lost it, please contact board member Anthony Pogmore on 07941 831728 to arrange its return.
