News Update: 23rd May 2021

In a week of turbulent weather BHAA members continued to record some good catches. At McGregor Lake, the week started well with Dave Pegram catching a 22lb mirror carp as well as bream. Robert Livock caught mirror carp weighing 13lb 4oz and 15lbs margin fishing and double figured mirrors were landed by Sam Hallybone and Trevor Richardson.

In contrast, catches at Swan Lake were few and far between where David Grant’s only reward for a three-night stint was an 11lb pike, the same fish Stephen Chessum had caught a few days earlier!

Tench were back on the feed at Gingerbread Lake with Alan Wilkie catching four fish weighing 4lb 15oz, 6lbs, 7lb 6oz and 7lb 8oz. Later in the week, Simon Lashmore braved heavy showers to bag five tench with the heaviest weighing 7lb 12oz. Fraser Hayden fished for tench too but found that bream were picking up his baits. During his stay he hooked and lost three carp in weed beds on his light tackle. However, he finally managed to catch one of the ‘rogue’ carp which he was able to land, a 20lb 9oz common. David Young managed to get in his first night of the year and was rewarded with the capture of a 23lb 11oz mirror carp.
