News Update: 9th May 2021

Chilly winds for much of the week made for far than ideal conditions but some anglers were still able to catch some great fish. Glenn Mills fished at Gingerbread Lake where he landed two specimen carp, a large common weighing 33lb 7oz and a mid-20lb mirror. Later in the week he returned to the venue when his first cast of the day produced a 19lb 8oz mirror carp for him. Nick Page fished into the teeth of a cold westerly breeze, but it proved to be the right tactic for him when he caught a 34lb common carp. Later in the week, the lake’s bream started to spawn despite the low temperatures.

Robert Livock’s long run of carp catches from McGregor Lake came to an end but he ended up with a nice consolation in the form of a 6lb 4oz tench, a relative rarity from the water in recent times. A fellow member caught carp weighing 13lb, 15lb and 18lb during the day whilst other anglers were catching the odd carp or bream.
