The past week has seen some great catches from BHAA’s fisheries despite fewer than expected numbers fishing since the new season opened.
Tom and Charmane Mitchelson opted for a day’s quiver tipping at Gingerbread Lake and it was Charmane who went on to catch a truly spectacular fish, a 5lb 5oz eel. Canine guru Darren Davidson decided on a change of swim after struggling for any action. His decision proved to be a wise move as he went on to land two cracking mirror carp weighing 36lbs and 28lb 5oz. Callum Gartland was another angler to enjoy success at the lake when he landed another big mirror carp weighing 27lb 4oz.
David Flint day fished at Swan Lake where he caught two big carp during the day, a 26lb common and an 18lb 5oz mirror. Paul Burton fished overnight at the lake catching two more big common carp weighing 20lb 11oz and 17lb 15oz. David Grant fished a 72-hour session after the lake’s carp but for his first two nights found it was big bream that were feeding on his bait. He caught two bream , one weighing well over 10lbs and the other an 8 pounder. However, his final night saw carp move into his swim when he added three low 20lb mirrors to his tally.
Karl Franklin made a welcome return to the Club opting to start at McGregor Lake and he went on to catch a 19lb 14oz mirror carp on his first visit. Paul Burton fished overnight on the lake catching two mirror carp weighing 12lb 11oz and 11lb 5oz.
A member fishing the River Ouse at Tempsford submitted a photo of a nice chub he caught during a recent visit.
