News Update: 11th July 2021

What a way to start your angling career! Young Joe Sharp fished McGregor Lake for the first time and went on to catch possibly the largest carp in the lake, a whopping 29lb 14oz mirror, using a popped-up boilie. Lloyd Gadsby caught a 23lb mirror from the venue too and Troy Fletcher also landed a large mirror carp. Troy returned to the lake to catch another heavily scaled 15lb mirror carp.

Dave Grant was part way through a three-night stint when he had already chalked up three big bream with two going well over 10lbs. All three fish fell to artificial tiger nuts fished over a bed of freebies. During daylight hours, he float-fished with maggots catching loads of small perch. Another member called Craig reported catching a 23lb mirror and a 7lb 9oz tench on a previous occasion whilst fishing for carp. Marcus Ridley caught a cracking 34lb 3oz common carp which justified the time and effort he has put into catching one of the lake’s big carp.

BHAA’s river stretches have been producing some nice fish too with some nice perch being caught near the old mill pool in Sandy and small barbel from, at least, two stretches of the River Ouse.

Notification has been received of a start date for the repair of the main track at the Sandy Lakes fishery. The work will be undertaken in the week beginning 19th of July. During this time the fishery will remain open but members must be prepared to wait for a short while until contractors give them clearance to proceed. After the work is completed, members MUST continue to adhere to the speed limit to avoid damaging the newly laid surface.
