September continued to produce some more great catches from BHAA’s fisheries.
David Grant fished a 72-hour session at Swan Lake where he caught probably the lake’s largest mirror carp weighing 36lbs. He did not photograph the fish though as he had caught it earlier in the season weighing 2lbs heavier. During his last night at the venue, he went on to catch two more carp, commons weighing 15lbs and 29lbs. The 29-pounder put up such a fight that David was keen to return it to the lake without photographing. Whilst at the lake, a member fishing in an adjacent fish showed him a nice 7lb tench that he had caught float-fishing in the margins. Also, he observed another member weighing and photographing a large bream on another occasion.
One of BHAA’s stetches of the River Ivel has been fishing especially well with members catching bream to 7lbs and chub to 6lbs during the daytime. Steve Chessum visited the stretch catchingt a 5lb 3oz chub and a 7lb 8oz bream using sweetcorn as bait.
Ionut Cires reproduced a photograph of another big carp he caught from Gingerbread Lake during the week, a scale perfect common carp weighing around the 30lb mark.
Another great haul of carp was reported by Craig Daniels when he fished a session at McGregor Lake catching three beautifully conditioned carp, mirrors weighing 21lbs and 23lbs plus a whopping 25lb 5oz common. Lloyd Gadsby caught a deep bodied common carp weighing 15lbs after only being at the lake for around 3 hours.
