News Update: 1st September 2021

Now that autumn is approaching, and water temperatures are cooling, carp in all our lakes seem to
be getting the urge to fatten themselves up in readiness for the winter months.

Glen Mills reported catching a super looking 28lb common carp that he caught at Gingerbread Lake.
Prolific carp catcher Ionut Cires was at it again catching three carp from the lake whilst floater
fishing. They were two chunky commons carp and a mirror.

Carp at Swan Lake seem to prefer the night time for their main feeding spells with several anglers
catching fish over the weekend including, at least, two carp around the 28lb mark. However, the odd
carp was still being caught during the week in the daytime when the lake is less pressurised.

Trevor Richardson returned from his visit to the Emerald Isle and was soon back among the carp on
McGregor Lake catching a nice-looking common carp. Karl Franklin had a day’s carp fishing but had
to wait until the evening before fish started to pick up his baits. He went on to catch three mirror
carp all around 15lbs each in quick succession. Chris Tyrell fished overnight and caught three carp
during his stay too. Cool northerly winds made conditions far from ideal for much of the week, but a
few carp were still being caught by day fisherman casting to known hotspots.
