News Update: 24th October 2021

Despite the cooling conditions there were still numbers of carp being caught by anglers at Gingerbread Lake with several being caught during daytime hours. Jordan Laflin caught an old favourite, a mirror carp known as The Clone or Lookalike weighing an impressive 38lb 14oz. Calum Gartlan was another member to bag one of the lake’s big carp, a mirror carp weighing 29lb 2oz.

Lake regular Dave Grant found it hard going fishing at Swan Lake on his latest session having to suffer some atrocious weather during his stay. He was able to catch one nice carp during his visit, a 21lb 12oz carp. Leslie Howe reported that he had found silver fish feeding well at the venue when he targeted them using a swim feeder and maggots to catch them.

Robert Livock kept up his recent run of catches at McGregor when he caught a 13lb mirror carp during a day session. Perhaps, the most surprising catch was made by Clive Day when he turned up for an afternoon session on a chilly day. He decided to try floater fishing close to some overhanging branches and went on to catch two nice mirrors, a 20lb specimen followed by an 11lb 8oz fish.

Members are reminded that the Sandy Lakes complex will be closed on the 30th and 31st of October to enable the work party to complete improvements on both Swan and McGregor Lakes. The fishery will be closed at 7pm on the preceding Friday.
