With falling temperatures on the way, the past week still afforded the chance of catching a big carp.
Ionut Cires continued his impressive run of big fish by landing one of Gingerbread Lake’s most sought after fish, a mirror carp named ‘The Clone’ weighing just over 40lbs.
Trevor Richardson likes his night fishing on McGregor Lake and this week he caught a lovely looking common carp weighing 18lbs during the night. There were still the odd carp or two being caught during the daytime mainly from well baited swims.
Fraser Hayden turned his attention to the rivers an opted to fish one of BHAA’s stretches of the River Ouse after perch. For much of the day, he found the fish unwilling to take his baits despite feeding his swim with small amounts of loose feed to attract bait fish into the area for the perch to prey on. After all the popular baits failed, he decided to try a prawn and it was this bait that finally produced a specimen ‘stripie’ for him, a 3lb 4oz perch.
