Members who may opt to start the new season fishing on one of BHAA’s river sections will be pleased to know that several of these have been readied to make access to the waters and swims better. The following stretches are all ready to receive anglers – Willow Hay, New Road bridge to Stratford Brook (part) and High Romford at Tempsford on the River Ivel and The Drift on the Ouse at Eaton Socon. Also, our stretches on the Ouse at Lavendon and Harrold are being maintained by our friends at Olney AC who now share these waters with us.

Prolific carp catcher Ionut Cires has caught the largest common carp in Gingerbread Lake for the fourth time. This fish generally weighs in the upper 30s or low 40s. Graeme Gadsby was another angler to finish his session on a high when he landed a stunning looking 21lb 8oz mirror carp from the venue.

Anthony Pogmore finally caught a nice carp whilst day fishing at Swan Lake, a 19lb 14oz fully-scaled mirror carp. The fish picked up his Hinders boilie within an hour of casting out. Later in the day, he suffered a cut-off from a pike that has developed a liking for boilies and has been landed several times over the last year. Karl Franklin has been trying to catch one of the growing population of tench that now inhabit Swan Lake using natural baits. However, he got a real surprise when one of his baits was picked up by a whopping 3lb 2oz eel, a personal best for him.
